Dinner gown, J. Franken, Brooklyn, ca. 1910, in a mauve tone-on-tone silk satin stripe. Chest yoke in heavy silk crewel embroidery with a brown taffeta facing. Gold ribbon at the top of the stand collar and a chiffon ruffle along the top. Stunning embroidered bullion net across the center of the yoke with small revers, also adorned but with embroidery and trimmed in gold bullion. Vest style front to the bodice with brown silk piped squiggle decoration. The squiggles end at the back with a chain and dingle ball fringe. Slender skirt falls from the natural waistline seam. Draped apron front panel and full gathers across the back waistline seam. Short, set in sleeves are bell shaped with horizontal tucks. Under sleeves in alternating silk and bullion embroidered lace, with a wide ivory embroidered lower sleeve that is edged in ivory chiffon. Full silk taffeta underskirt and bodice lining.
